Co-Founder & Tax Advisor
Mike Dobbyn

Mike Dobbyn brings a thoughtful, full-picture approach to tax planning shaped by decades of experience across finance, investing, and tax preparation. A graduate of Duke University with a degree in Economics, Mike began his career in the investment and financial planning world, including time as an options trader on Wall Street. That background gives him a deep understanding of how investment decisions and taxes intersect in real life.
Over the past six tax seasons, Mike has prepared tax returns under the guidance and mentorship of Canton Tax Group, developing a strong, practical foundation in tax planning. His work is grounded in tax efficiency—helping families and small business owners understand how everyday financial decisions impact their taxes today and over time.
Inspired by his son Connor’s brave battle with the ultra-rare disease Sanfilippo Syndrome (often described as childhood Alzheimer’s), Mike is also a rare-disease advocacy leader and the founder of the Sanfilippo Project and the RareDads community. This journey reshaped his priorities and led him to focus his work on people, relationships, and community. He also maintains strong ties to his hometown roots in Canton, Massachusetts, where he regularly meets with Massachusetts-based tax clients throughout the tax season.
Outside of work, Mike is a proud father of two teenage boys, an avid soccer player, and a firm believer in the power of teamwork. He enjoys staying active, listening to 80s music and educational podcasts, and building work that reflects resilience, service, and long-term impact.
